Use of ChatGPT to create (and clearly label) a few pages of AI-Generated content

Dearest Reader,

I realize that I’ve not been super active on this website since it was created a few years back. I won’t make excuses for myself: it is what it is and as Popeye once said, “I am what I am and that’s all what I am”. Another of my favorite cartoon characters, Clint Eastwood, then further elucidated by saying “A man’s got to know his limitations”.

Given my limitations of time, focus and capability, I have decided to add some content with some help and inspiration from https://chatgpt.com/. I’m finding that, as I get better at creating prompts, it gets better at giving me answers.

In order to protect you as a reader from getting your mind polluted and distorted by AI, or (perhaps worse, from my perspective) not thinking anything I’ve posted here is credible, I have established the following guidelines, which I solemnly vow to follow to the letter:

  1. In general, let the AI source make up the entire page, with no edits.
    • If the material doesn’t seem appropriate or accurate, I will gently correct the AI and ask it to give a better answer, which I will then post.
    • I may change this rule later, but if I do, I’ll need to change how AI-generated content is demarcated for your reference.
  2. Create a suitable title for the page, and tag it with (*AI) in the title.
  3. Include an Author / Editor’s note at the bottom, which will look something like this:

*Author/Editor’s note:

This page was generated by ChatGPT on 02 SEP 2024, using the following prompt:

(Paste prompt here)

I have not verified nor edited the text in this response, nor the sources it cites, and cannot vouch for their veracity.

I hope this helps you (as a reader) to discern between human-generated and AI-generated material on this site, and I hope it helps me (as an author) to generate more of both.
